Netflix is dropping some incredible content this January in the form of films that will do everything from take your breath away with immersive action and drama to transport you on an epic international and multi-lingual journey from the comforts of home. Whether you’re looking for something thrilling, moving, or funny, Netflix has got you covered. Keep reading for the streamer’s best new movies coming in January.

Netflix is releasing two of its biggest original films in the first half of the month as it drops Daniel Levy-led comedy-drama Good Grief as well as Kevin Hart’s new heist comedy Lift, which are both poised to potentially land in the Netflix Top 10.

Then towards the middle of the month, Netflix will debut some international titles that transcend language barriers to be emotionally affecting, like Japanese animated fantasy drama maboroshi and German action drama Sixty Minutes.

Lastly, all throughout Netflix’s January streaming slate you can also look forward to some familiar hit movies from the past few decades, like 2008 jukebox musical romantic comedy Mamma Mia! and 2014 action thriller John Wick.

    Lift is a crime comedy that follows Cyrus Whitaker (Kevin Hart) and his international heist crew as they attempt their most dangerous and rewarding feat yet: lifting $500 million in gold from a vault on a plane that’s flying 40,000 feet in the air.     Based on the heart-wrenching yet ultimately inspiring true story of the 1972 Andes flight disaster, Society of the Snow revolves around the events following the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 on a glacier in the Andes Mountains in 1972. The plane was chartered to take a rugby team to a match in Chile, and was full of the team’s players, loved ones, and personnel. Of the 45 people onboard, the 29 who survived the crash were then tasked with finding a way to stay alive in a tundra off the grid with limited supplies and no aid in sight.

Directed by Natasha Lyonne, this version of Get On Your Knees is a 90-minute stand-up set that’s both poignant and raunchy as it gets surprisingly philosophical about the blowjob in a funny and charming performance that breaks the mold of what stand-up specials can look like and cover in the first place.

Based on the hit musical of the same name, Mamma Mia! tells the story of a spunky young bride-to-be named Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who secretly invites three men from her mother, Donna’s, (Meryl Streep) past to her Greek island wedding in hopes of figuring out which one is her real father. In addition to Streep and Seyfried, the film features Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Dominic Cooper, and more talent where that came from.
