Rachel Lindsay became emotional while addressing her “difficult” divorce from Bryan Abasolo on the latest episode of her Higher Learning podcast.

The Bachelorette alum seemingly struggled with knowing where to begin at the start of the episode, which aired this morning, telling her co-host Van Lathan, “I didn’t think I would get emotional.”

On Jan. 2, Abasolo filed for divorce from Lindsay, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for spousal support. The official court documents were obtained by E! News just days after the former couple reportedly ended their relationship on Dec. 31, 2023.

“First off, I just want to say thank you for people who reached out. I’m still trying to reply to people,” Lindsay said on her podcast. “You just never know how great your circle is until you see all the people that reach out and love you.”

She continued, “Obviously it’s a difficult time, if you’ve read the headlines, and you’re probably wondering why I would even work. But to be honest with you, I need to distract myself from myself and the best way to do that is to do something that I love, and I love Higher Learning. So I am going to try my best to get through this podcast.”

While Lindsay said she would “eventually” go into detail about her breakup, she noted that “now is not the time,” before adding, “I’m just trying to take it day by day.”

The reality star quickly perked up after Nash sarcastically joked that her comments were “all in reaction, obviously, to Texas losing in the college football playoff.”

Lindsay first met Abasolo when she starred on The Bachelorette in 2017; the two officially tied the knot in 2019. While the duo were often private about their marriage on social media, Abasolo released a statement about their divorce on the same day he filed.

“Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “My parents have been married forever and I’m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go.”
