‘The Wizard of Oz’
Sit down, kids, and let your Uncle Grambo tell you a quick story about what life was like BEFORE STREAMING. (Gasp!) Back in my day, there used to only be TWO NFL games on Thanksgiving (gasp again!), and after everyone finished stuffing themselves with turkey and masheds, we’d gather round the television and turn the dial to CBS to watch The Wizard Of Oz, basking in the warm glow of cathode ray tubes as the tryptophan flowed through our veins. At least, that’s how I remembered my childhood … but, as it turns out, my mind’s playin’ tricks on me. (Gasp thrice!) A quick Wikipedia search reveals that there were only a few years there in the ’90s when this was the case. Marilu Henner, I am not, but that hasn’t prevented me from keeping this “tradition” alive on Thanksgiving now that I have a family of my own. After all, there’s no other time of the year when Dorothy’s famous catchphrase “There’s no place like home” resonates like it does on T-Givs.
