Hell hath no fury like a Swiftie scorned. Jo Koy might have some bad blood with Taylor Swift — and her army of fans — after he subtly poked fun at her relationship with Travis Kelce during tonight’s Golden Globes ceremony.
Less than an hour into the event, Koy — who delivered an awkward monologue minutes before — decided to drop Swift’s name, much to her apparent dismay.
“As you know, we came on after a football doubleheader. The biggest difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” he said as the camera cut to the “Love Story” songstress, who visibly cringed before taking a big sip of her drink.
Koy’s joke was a clear reference to the abundance of camera time Swift receives when she attends NFL games to support Kelce, who is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. The two began their very public romance in late 2023 after Kelce made a pass at her via his podcast, New Heights, which he shares with his brother, Jason Kelce.
Swift’s reaction to Koy’s remark quickly went viral on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), where users slammed the comedian for daring to bring up the musician’s name.
“Every day is a good day to not make offensive jokes on television involving Taylor Swift’s name,” one wrote, while another added, “If Taylor Swift death stares could actually kill, Jo Koy would now be deceased.”
A third person said, “The one funny thing Jo Koy has done so far is mention Taylor Swift by name because it led to this cutaway shot where she’s extremely ‘keep my name out of your mouth.'”
Someone else chimed in, “Taylor Swift being unamused by Jo Koy, she’s really just like us!” while another wrote, “Taylor Swift put Jo Koy’s life in jeopardy with that look.”
