Eddie Murphy’s latest film, Prime Video’s Candy Cane Lane, is yet another opportunity for him to flex his family-friendly comedy muscles as he tries to avert a Christmas crisis in his town. On Netflix, Jennifer Garner also adds another family film to her resume with Family Switch, about a family who switches bodies with one another thanks to a magical cosmic event that occurs right before Christmas. And over on Max, Selena Gomez returns with her popular cooking series Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays that’s sure to cook up some merry meals.

New on Prime Video December 1: Candy Cane Lane

Eddie Murphy’s latest film, the holiday comedy Candy Cane Lane, is sure to get you in a festive spirit. The new Prime Video original movie co-stars Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross as Chris and Carol Carver, a couple whose desire to win a holiday decorating contest goes awry when they make a deal with the devil (okay, actually a mischievous elf named Pepper, played by Jillian Bell). Pepper manages to bring the 12 Days of Christmas to life in Chris and Carol’s town, and the Carver family has to find a way to put a stop to the holiday madness before it’s too late.

New on Netflix November 30: Family Switch

Netflix’s Family Switch is another holiday family flick that’s arriving this weekend. This one, a riff on Freaky Friday, sees parents Jess and Bill Walker (Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms) switch bodies with their teenage kids (Emma Myers and Brady Noon) just as the Christmas holiday approaches – while they all get a taste of what it’s like to live as one another, they also might find the true meaning of Christmas and all that jazz while they’re at it. (Family Switch happens to be one of many big premieres on Netflix this week: there’s also the Natalie Portman-Julianne Moore drama May December, The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday, and two new holiday-themed episodes of Virgin River to boot.)

New on Max November 30: Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays

Selena Gomez started her cooking series, Selena + Chef, during the pandemic and in the three years since it premiered, it’s gained massive popularity and prestige thanks to the A-list chefs she’s invited to teach her how to cook. This week, a holiday version of the show premiered on the Food Network (and is also broadcast on Max), and it features the superstar learning how to make festive dishes from chefs like Alex Guarnaschelli, Top Chef‘s Eric Adjepong, Michael Symon and Claudette Zepeda.
