Shannon Beador addressed her recent DUI arrest in a new interview on Bravo’s Hot Mic.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star held back tears as she recounted the events of that fateful night in which she reportedly drove onto a residential property and clipped a house back in September.

“I still look back on it and I have a hard time,” she told Bravo’s Hot Mic host Alex Baskin.

She claimed that she had driven her car to the home of her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen, which she says was three blocks away. She explained that they then got into an argument, and when he asked her to leave, she got back in her car to drive the three blocks back to her home.

“I was angry, very angry. And I made a horrible, horrible mistake,” she admitted. Her eyes began to well up with tears as she said, “And I have to tell you, I don’t want to get teary-eyed, but it keeps me up at night to think that I could have hurt somebody.”

Reports from that evening claim Beador turned her car back onto the road after hitting the residential property. She then tried to pretend that she was taking a walk when police arrived, though sources claim she appeared “wasted.”

The Bravo star was booked on two misdemeanor charges for hit-and-run and DUI alcohol. In November, she was sentenced to three years of probation and 40 hours of community service. She is also required to attend a nine-month alcohol program and pay restitution for the damage she caused to the house.

“I made a terrible mistake and I sit back and think, like, why did this happen?” she said.

Beador claimed that she was offered “multiple” opportunities to attend rehab for her alcohol use, but she opted to get behavioral counseling instead.

“I wanted to figure out why I make certain toxic, unhealthy choices in my life,” she said. She later added, “I think that you could see that, too, in the last season. I wasn’t willing to acknowledge it.”

After her sentencing, Beador released a statement taking “full responsibility” for the accident.

“I am grateful that no one else was injured besides me in this incident. I have learned so much from my terrible mistake that night and realize that driving any distance while impaired is too far,” she said, per People.
