The creepy animals-come-alive horror flick Five Nights At Freddy’s is one of several new movies on VOD to catch this weekend, along with the Meg Ryan-David Duchovny romance What Happens Later.
Also on the watch list is the John Cena action-comedy Freelance. Cena stars as former Special Forces soldier Mason Pettits who’s hired for a gig to protect a journalist, Claire Wellington (played by Alison Brie), as she travels to the dangerous fictional country of Paldonia. Like every former Special Forces soldier ever to be depicted on film, Pettits was leading a boring life at home until his special skills are called to action, but the trip takes a dangerous turn (naturally) when he and Claire become involved in an assassination plot.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Five Nights At Freddy’s
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, the horror film Five Nights at Freddy‘s stars Josh Hutcherson as Mike, a security guard at the family entertainment center Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Back in the ’80s, five children were murdered inside Freddy’s and now their souls possess the animatronic characters in the place. Mike has to keep the job in order to care for his sister Abby… but it turns out he has to protect Abby (Piper Rubio) before the animatronics steal her soul, too.
What Happens Later
What Happens Later marks rom-com queen Meg Ryan’s return to the genre after 14 years (her most recent was 2009’s Serious Moonlight). In the new film, which premiered in theaters last month, Ryan co-stars with David Duchovny as exes whose chance encounter in an airport sets them off on a nostalgic journey together.
