Based on Rick Riordan‘s hit novels, the new Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has introduced a group of young actors to a cult audience. Wondering who plays the seemingly supportive Luke Castellan in the adventure series? Here’s everything you need to know.

Premiering on December 19, 2023, the show follows the titular character as he discovers that he is a demigod and is sent to Camp Half-Blood for training. There, he is assigned to travel across America and return Zeus’s thunderbolt to stop a war among deities.

Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson, with Aryan Simhadri as Percy’s close friend Grover Underwood and  Leah Sava Jeffries as fellow trainee Annabeth Chase.

After the first episode, Percy feels betrayed by Grover, who is revealed to be his protector. The young demigod ventures out to explore the campgrounds, and perhaps make new friends. Earlier on, he meets Luke and they develop a brotherly relationship.

Luke has a scar on his right cheek, which he has yet to be given a backstory in the show. In the books, the scar came from a dragon that he fought during a quest.

Stepping into the role of Luke in the show is Charlie Bushnell, best known for his role as Bobby Cañero-Reed in the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President. The actor expressed his excitement for joining the TV series when his casting was announced in 2022, writing on Instagram, “Can’t believe this is real life… so grateful.”

Giving an update on filming, Busnell later wrote, “Officially wrapped my scenes for S1 of @percyseries… working on this show has been an absolute dream come true and i’m so grateful for the people i’ve met along the way. thank you all for everything, much love. can’t wait to be back for more…”

Recently, the actor shared an image of himself to commemorate the show’s premiered, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays his father Hermes, commented, “Take good care of my cabin, son. Be nice to the new kid.”

Despite the eventual betrayal that happens in Riordan’s books, fans seem to be falling in love with Luke on the small screen. “Me watching new fans watching the Percy Jackson show and latching onto Luke as their fave but I can’t interfere bc it’s a canon event,” tweeted one fan.

“This boy looks up to Luke and trusts him so much I’m gonna throw up I cannot do this,” wrote another fan, referring to the dynamic between Percy and Luke.

With four episodes down and four more to go, Luke isn’t going anywhere.
