Amid family tensions and relationship ruins, the Brown family didn’t have much to be thankful for this past Thanksgiving on Sister Wives.

Sunday night’s (Aug. 27) episode of the TLC reality series — which surrounds family patriarch Kody Brown, his four wives Christine, Janelle, Meri, and Robyn, and their combined 18 children — delved into the family’s turkey day, which was spent apart from each other after a proposal for a sibling gift exchange got “blown up out of perspective.”

Robyn, the last of the four women to marry into the Brown family, suggested that it take place over video chat, which caused a lot of “pushback” from other members of the family.

This made its way into discussion between Christine and her son Paedon, who spent Thanksgiving with her away from Kody in what she felt was “a really big break in [their] family tradition.”

While it “meant a lot” to Paedon that his mother opened up to him about his father and “trust[ed him] with this information,” he chided his father for “choosing Robyn’s family for Christmas because [they] didn’t want to do a Zoom call,” and assured his mother that he’s “got [his] own issues with Dad.”

“My mom’s kids and Janelle’s kids have chosen a side,” Paedon revealed in a confessional. “To the best of my knowledge, all of us chose my mom.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, Christine divorced Kody in November 2021 and has since gotten engaged to David Woolley. Meri and Janelle followed in Christine’s footsteps, as both announced their respective separations from Kody in January 2023. This solidified Robyn as Kody’s only remaining wife, which has prompted

In spite of her resentment toward Kody, Christine still found that her son’s “sarcasm [was not helping his anger.”

“He’s just being sarcastic and I don’t want him to be rude,” she said in a confessional.

While Janelle told People that “none of [their] kids have chosen to live polygamy” and described it as “hard” for them, Paedon’s sentiments during last night’s episode only solidified this.

“When we first went public, the purpose of going public was to say, ‘Polygamy works,'” Paedon shared. “I don’t think it works in my family anymore.”

New episodes of Sister Wives air on TLC on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. Next-day streaming is available on discovery+ and Max.
