A very Brady purchase has been made! According to The Wall Street Journal, HGTV has sold the house used as the exterior of the iconic Brady family home in The Brady Bunch to Tina Trahan for $3.2 million. The price is reportedly about nine percent less than the $3.5 million the network spent on it in 2018.

Trahan, a self-proclaimed Brady Bunch fan and wife of former HBO chief executive Chris Albrecht, said the home is “almost like a life-size dollhouse,” but one she thinks “nobody is going to live in.”

“No one is going in there to make pork chops and applesauce in that kitchen,” she continued. “Anything you might do to make the house livable would take away from what I consider artwork.”

Listing agent Danny Brown affirmed this notion, telling the outlet that “there’s no normal average family that could move in there and live in it, so it was almost like you were selling a fixer.”

“What am I going to compare it to, the Freddy Krueger house on Elm Street or the Home Alone house?” he added.

Trahan said she intends to host fundraising and charity events in the house, but still described the purchase as “the worst investment ever.”

“I can’t even say the word investment—I’m going to say liability,” she told WSJ.

She noted how fans of the show are aging, which means fewer people may recognize the inherent nostalgia of the home.

“I asked my 27-year-old tennis instructor, ‘Have you heard of The Brady Bunch?” she recalled. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, Wayne Brady?’ I’m like, ‘Noooo.’”

More recent generations were reminded of the home’s value on HGTV’s A Very Brady Renovation, which aired in 2019. The network spent $2 million on interior renovations to preserve the exact aesthetic of the home fans came to know and love, as featured on the show, which was hosted by Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott.

In 2018, HGTV bested NSYNC’s Lance Bass in a bidding war on the house, per People.

Prior to HGTV purchasing the home, it had belonged to the same family for almost 50 years. According to TMZ, HGTV originally listed the home for sale in May for $5.5 million.

Nonetheless, Trahan was reportedly still excited about her new house, which is the latest in her collection of “unusual homes.” Marcy Roth, Trahan’s real-estate agent, initially believed she was joking when she expressed interest in the house.

“She was like, ‘No, I’m not kidding, I’m obsessed,” she told WSJ.

The Brady Bunch is streaming on Prime Video, while A Very Brady Renovation is streaming on discovery+.
