After 19 seasons on HGTV’s Love It Or List It, Hillary Farr is getting as far(r) away from the show as possible, aka leaving the series. You might say she chose “list it” perhaps? Anyway.
The news about the home selling/renovation show was broken earlier this month by People Magazine, which makes sense because Farr is a person. If she was one of the houses on the show, she would have been interviewed in House Magazine. In the interview, Farr simply laid out her reasons for leaving.
“I’ve given it so many years of my life,” said the host. “It’s got me through hard times. It’s got the audiences through hard times. It has evolved into a mainstay of people’s lives and it’s been incredibly gratifying. But now it’s time for me to move on and meet new challenges.”
Seems fine! But Farr got a little harsher in listing her reasons for leaving in an interview with Vulture, stating that she got “bored” and “It felt very stale. It’s a very formulaic show.”
With 19 seasons in the bank, Farr is a tough act to replace, potentially putting the future of Love It Or List It at risk. Given that this is a program from CEO David Zaslav’s Warner Bros. Discovery, a company that seems willing to “list it” when it comes to their shows at every opportunity, fans are understandably worried.
Despite all this, co-host Dave Visentin, who has been on the series since 2008 with Farr, seemed positively cheery on social media. As reported by Yahoo!, Visentin took to Instagram to react to Farr’s exit. “I will be phoning you regularly to soften your ‘David withdrawal’,” Visentin wrote. “No need to thank me…it’s what friends do. You will be missed! Congratulations ❤️”
Even if the show doesn’t continue — though all joking aside it will probably run for another 19 seasons — when it comes to the friendship of Farr and Visentin? Love it.
