Fresh off her Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All At Once, Michelle Yeoh is diving into more family drama in the new Netflix action comedy The Brothers Sun.

Created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, the show follows famed killer Charles (Justin Chien) as he returns to Los Angeles from Taiwan to protect his loved ones.

Charles’s arrival puts Eileen “Mama” Sun (Yeoh) at a crossroads, as she has kept her other son Bruce (Sam Song Li) unaware of the family’s powerful business, which has allowed him to grow up in a normal environment.

Over eight episodes, Charles and Bruce struggle to bond due to their vast differences and Bruce’s naive nature, but the two eventually come together. Mama Sun also shows that she knows how to handle a dead body, or two.

“Falchuk and Wu managed to create a unique and addictive action comedy that highlights veteran talent and a few fresh faces while seamlessly building the foundation of the complicated history between three very different people,” Decider wrote in a review.

Given the show’s twisty ending and positive reception, many are wondering if the story will continue. Will there be a Season 2 of The Brothers Sun? Here’s everything we know.

Has The Brothers Sun Been Renewed For A Season 2?

Unfortunately, The Brothers Sun has not yet been renewed for a second season on Netflix. But don’t fear as the show is still fresh on the platform. On the plus side, the show creators seem interested in continuing the story and made that clear to the audience. The finale contains a post-credit scene featuring Big Sun’s right-hand man sitting at a desk and scheming, after the takedown of his leader.

Despite Big Sun’s battle with Charles and Bruce, he is seemingly alive at the end of the first season. Though, Mama Sun has made sure he isn’t going anywhere.

While speaking with Netflix, Wu and Falchuk teased the return of Big Sun and his gang. “The end of the season is a happy moment for the family, but when you’re living as a gangster, you can never truly relax… And Big Sun is not an enemy that accepts defeat easily.”

When it comes to a Season 2, the co-creators said they’d be interested in focusing on the relationships between the Sun trio: “The Sun family will struggle to maintain those clearly defined roles… The children want to be adults!”

The Brothers Sun star Song Li is also optimistic about the future of the show, telling Digital Spy, “I think everybody on The Brothers Sun team absolutely thinks that there’s more to tell… And luckily, it’s not a limited series so there is potential for future seasons.”

Song Li continued, “The first season is a great introductory piece to all of our characters. I really think the fun can start now, because we get to really see how far these characters might go once they’ve had a taste of the other side.”

Sounds like there’s plenty more of Mama Sun and her two boys to come if Netflix allows!
