This week’s new movies on VOD feature psychological thrills courtesy of Anne Hathaway in Eileen, and thoughtful dramas, like All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt, but if it’s action you’re looking for, there’s Race For Glory: Audi Vs. Lancia, a thrill ride of a movie about a real-life rally car race.
If you can’t wait for Ferrari to arrive on demand, Race For Glory should tide you over: the racing film was inspired by the events of the 1983 World Rally Championship where Italy’s Team Lancia faced rival Team Audi, managed by Roland Gumpert (Daniel Brühl). The Lancia manager, Cesare Fiorio, is played by John Wick actor Riccardo Scamarcio, who also co-wrote the film. Filled with racing sequences, an action-packed love letter to racing.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Eileen
Based on a novel by Otessa Moshfegh, Eileen is a psychological thriller starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anne Hathaway set in 1960s Massachusetts. McKenzie plays Eileen, a woman who works in a juvenile detention facility alongside Rebecca (Hathaway), a psychologist who maintains an air of mystery and leads Eileen down a dangerous – but thrilling – path. The film also co-stars Shea Whigham, Sam Nivola and Marin Ireland.
All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt
All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt is the debut film from writer-director Raven Jackson, and it spans the life of a woman, Mack, who lives in Mississippi, beginning in childhood all the way through her adult years. Told in a non-linear fashion, the film toggles between scenes of young Mack (played by Kaylee Nicole Johnson) being brought up by her parents and grandmother, interspersed with her adult self, played by Charleen McClure, teaching those same lessons to her own children. First premiering at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, the movie is now available on demand.
