  1. Masters of the Air

Austin Butler and Callum Turner in 'Masters Of The Air'
    Photo: Apple TV+

    Release Date: January 26, 2024

    Streaming Service: Apple TV+

Cast: Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Raff Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, Ncuti Gatwa

Why We’re Hyped: Masters of the Air is a companion series to 2001’s Band of Brothers and 2010’s The Pacific from the same team of executive producers that brought us the first two critically acclaimed miniseries (Steven Spielberg’s Amblin and Tom Hanks’ Playtone). It’s a known recipe for success, and if the trailers are anything to go by, we’re in for yet another gripping war drama with a huge cast (including Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan — both became Oscar nominees after filming this series, and the newest Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa), this one following the Air Force’s Bloody Hundredth unit during World War II. — Angela Tricarico

  2. Abbott Elementary Season 3

Chris Perfetti as Jacob, Quinta Brunson as Janine, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, Tyler James Williams as Gregory, and Janelle James as Ava on 'Abbott Elementary'
    Photo: ABC/Matt Sayles

    Release Date: February 7, 2024

    Streaming Service: Hulu

Cast: Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Janelle James, and William Stanford Davis

Why We’re Hyped: The Philadelphia-set mockumentary’s sophomore season gave us everything from an iconic Gritty cameo and delightful holiday episodes to a magical first kiss and more. So we can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store for Janine and the rest of Abbott Elementary’s staff. Who will guest star this season? (We need more Ayo Edebiri! And perhaps a Questlove appearance?) Will Janine and Gregory regret their decision to remain just friends? Will we get another finale field trip? And what will Season 3’s overarching theme be? 14 glorious episodes await.

  3. Death and Other Details

Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) and Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin) in ‘Death and Other Details’
    Photo: Michael Desmond/Hulu

    Release Date: January 16, 2024

    Streaming Service: Hulu

Cast: Violett Beane, Mandy Patinkin, Lauren Patten, Rahul Kohli, Angela Zhou, Hugo Diego Garcia, Pardis Saremi, and Linda Emond

Why We’re Hyped: Fans of snazzy, compelling on-screen mysteries like Only Murders in The Building, Knives Out, The Glass Onion, and even Poker Face, rejoice! Hulu’s 10-episode original series Death and Other Details wants to introduce you to Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), “the world’s greatest detective” who teams up with unsuspecting murder suspect Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) to crack a confounding case on a lavish Mediterranean ocean liner full of wealthy guests. Benoit Blanc, Charlie Cale, and OliMabel (the Charles is silent) would be proud.

  4. Expats

Clarke (Brian Tee) and Margaret (Nicole Kidman) in 'Expats'
    Photo: Prime Video

    Release Date: January 26, 2024

    Streaming Service: Prime Video

Cast: Nicole Kidman, Ji-young Yoo, Jack Huston

Why We’re Hyped: Based on the novel The Expariates by Janice Y.K. Lee, the show focuses on the intertwined lives of the expat community. The real draw here is writer/director Lulu Wang tackling her first TV show, and Nicole Kidman who has essentially not missed yet when it comes to streaming TV series. — Alex Zalben

  5. Bridgerton Season 3

Slanted side-by-side of Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) in 'Bridgerton' Season 3
    Photos: Netflix

Release Date: Part 1: May 16, Part 2: June 13

    Streaming Service: Netflix

Cast: Nicola Coughlan, Luke Newton, Simone Ashley, Jonathan Bailey, Claudia Jessie

Why We’re Hyped: It’s been more than two years since Bridgerton Season 2 dropped on Netflix, and now it’s finally time for the third installment to follow the highly anticipated love story of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton (or dare we say, #Polin). If the eight-episode season is anything like Julia Quinn’s book on which it is based — a.k.a. mirrors and carriages — Bridgerton fans will be in for yet another steamy romance.

  6. Griselda

    Sofia Vergara in 'Griselda.'
    Photo: Netflix

    Release Date: January 25, 2024

    Streaming Service: Netflix

Cast: Sofia Vergara, Alberto Guerra, Christian Tappan, Martín Rodríguez, Juliana Aidén Martinez, Vanessa Ferlito and Carolina Giraldo (aka Karol G)

Why We’re Hyped: Inspired by the true story of Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, aka “The Godmother of Cocaine,” Netflix’s six-episode limited series from Eric Newman (Narcos, Narcos: Mexico) transports viewers to 1970s-80s Miami, setting the stage for Sofia Vergara’s stunning embodiment of the charming, ruthless cartel boss.

  7. Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'
    Photo: David Lee/Prime Video

    Release Date: February 2, 2024

    Streaming Service: Prime Video

Cast: Donald Glover, Maya Erskine, Paul Dano, Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Michaela Coel, Eiza González, Alexander Skarsgård, Sharon Horgan, and Sarah Paulson

Why We’re Hyped: Remember the sexy 2005 action film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? Well, this eight-episode Prime Video series gives it a twist. Instead of a married couple who learn they’re assassins for competing agencies, the 2024 version brings two strangers together with Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith as their cover. Through weekly missions, the spies get to know each other and may even fall in love for real! We’ll have to wait and see.

  8. True Detective: Night Country

Kali Reis and Jodie Foster in 'True Detective: Night Country'

    Release Date: January 14, 2024

    Streaming Service: HBO/Max

Cast: Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston

Why We’re Hyped: Set around multiple murders near an icy research station in Alaska, the fourth season of True Detective looks to get back to basics with a creepy mystery featuring an all-star cast. — Alex Zalben

  9. The Regime

    Kate Winslet in 'The Regime'
    Photo: Miya Mizuno/HBO

    Streaming Service: HBO/Max

Cast: Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton, Hugh Grant, Danny Webb, David Bamber, Henry Goodman, Stanley Townsend, Louie Mynett, Rory Keenan, Karl Markovics, and Pippa Haywood

Why We’re Hyped: Order will be restored once HBO gifts us more Sunday night originals like The Regime, a six episode limited series that follows a year within the palace of a modern European authoritarian regime as it falls apart. From showrunner, executive producer, and writer Will Tracy (The Menu, Succession) and starring Madame Chancellor Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Martha Plimpton, and more, it’s sure to deliver humor, suspense, standout performances, and spectacular swearing.

  10. Agatha: Darkhold Diaries

    agatha-darkhold-diaries

    Release Date: Late 2024

    Streaming Service: Disney+

Cast: Kathryn Hahn, Patti LuPone, Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza

Why We’re Hyped: Unless you were living under a rock in 2021, you are well aware of the cultural phenomenon that was Marvel Studio’s debut Disney+ TV series WandaVision. The superhero franchise is following the hit show with a spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as Agatha. The show finds the titular witch in the immediate aftermath of the events that occurred in its predecessor. With a buzzy cast and promising premise, we’re holding our breath for this one. — Raven Brunner

    Photo: HBO

    Release Date: Summer 2024

    Streaming Service: Max

Cast: Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke

Why We’re Hyped: HBO’s first Game of Thrones spin-off was an instantaneous hit when it premiered in Summer 2022, even if the first season was a swift primer on two decades of Targaryen family drama. When House of the Dragon returns for its second season, it’s going to plunge viewers right into the middle of a civil war. Expect epic performances, insane amounts of carnage, massive battle sequences, and brutal moments of backstabbing that will evoke bittersweet memories of the Red Wedding. — Meghan O’Keefe

  12. The Penguin

Jonathan Olley / © Warner Bros.

    Release Date: TBA

    Streaming Service: Max

    Cast: Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti

Why We’re Hyped: Matt Reeves’ The Batman was a fantastic crime thriller that (once again) reinvented Gotham City. Farrell’s Penguin was one of the highlights, and giving us a series focusing on his rise to power is exciting enough. Add in Cristin Milioti as the woman fighting him for control, and you have a guaranteed winner. Wak wak. — Alex Zalben

  13. Palm Royale

    Kristen Wiig in 'Palm Royale'
    Photo: Apple TV+

Why We’re Hyped: The year is 1969 and Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) is attempting to fit in with Palm Beach elites. Loosely based Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, the 10-episode series features a stacked cast and stunning first-look visuals that have us craving more.

  14. 3 Body Problem

    Release Date: March 21, 2024

    Streaming Service: Netflix

Cast: Saamer Usmani, Jess Hong, Benedict Wong, Eiza González

Why We’re Hyped: Based on the seminal sci-fi novel by Liu Cixin, this is also a return to epic storytelling from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss after Game of Thrones. Will a mix of two controversial creators and some extremely heady material work? Or will it be a serious problem for Netflix? A… Three body problem? — Alex Zalben

  15. Fallout

    Fallout first look image
    Photo: Prime Video

    Release Date: April 12, 2024

    Streaming Service: Amazon Prime Video

Cast: Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan

Why We’re Hyped: TV adaptations of video game series seems to be the hottest trend right now, with the recent release of The Last of UsArcaneTwisted Metal, and more. Now, it’s time to see how the retro futuristic RPG game Fallout will translate to the small screen. Developed by Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the new series promises a solid post-apocalyptic story with a strong narrative and a healthy dose of existential dread. — Raven Brunner

Why We’re Hyped: We loved Gen V, and Prime Video’s critically acclaimed superhero series was the perfect appetizer to the main course: The upcoming fourth season of The Boys. It’s been far too long (July 2022, to be exact) since we’ve seen Hughie, Annie, MM, and everyone’s favorite grouch Butcher banter about everything from killing Supes to the Spice Girls. The end of the third season saw both Homelander and Victoria Neuman’s influence over the public grow stronger — and now our heroes will attempt to topple the diabolical duo in Season 4. — Josh Sorokach

Get ready for dark family secrets, burning questions, and complex family dynamics, courtesy of showrunner and executive producer Melanie Marnich (The OA, The Affair).

  19. The Acolyte

    Release Date: TBA

    Streaming Service: Disney+

Cast: Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Carrie Anne-Moss

Why We’re Hyped: Recent Star Wars series have been underwhelming, at best. But a show set 100 years before the first prequel movie, focusing on the dark side of the force, from Leslye Headland? Color us intrigued. Getting the franchise away from the endless recycling of Skywalker siblings is exactly what Lucasfilm needs. And the cast is excellent, too. Consider us acolytes of The Acolyte until further notice. — Alex Zalben

  20. Shogun

    Hiroyuki Sanada as Yoshii Toranaga
    Photo: Kurt Iswarienko/FX

The series follows an intrepid English navigator who finds himself shipwrecked in 1600 Japan. He is soon embedded in a dangerous world of politics, strategy, and honor. Based on the early trailers — and a recent preview of the series Decider saw — we’re thinking FX’s big gamble was well worth the long wait. — Meghan O’Keefe

  21. Orphan Black: Echoes

Cast: Krysten Ritter, Keeley Hawes, Avan Jogia

Why We’re Hyped:Orphan Black, the beloved sci-fi cloning series, rocketed Tatiana Maslany to fame for her multiple roles. Now, Ritter is taking the lead in a sequel series that is set years after the original. How has cloning progressed? What new bleeding-edge tech will intrigue and terrify us? We can’t wait to find out. (Unless you’re in Australia, where the entire series premiered way back on November 3, 2023). — Alex Zalben

  22. Dune: Prophecy

    DUNE, Rebecca Ferguson
Photo: Warner Bros. / Courtesy Everett Collection

    Release Date: 2024

    Streaming Service: Max

Cast: Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel

Why We’re Hyped: Denis Villeneuve pulled off a miracle with his cinematic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune and he’s betting that there’s more magic to mine in the saga’s spin-offs. Dune: Prophecy takes us 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’s war against the Harkonnens, to a time when that villainous House was actually ruled over by a pair of insightful sisters. Their plan? To start a school for women that winds up being the origins of the Bene Gesserit. — Meghan O’Keefe

  23. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

the walking dead the ones who live rick grimes mouth

Why We’re Hyped: Originally planned as a trilogy of movies, this miniseries will bring together the fan-favorite couple of Rick Grimes (Lincoln) and Michonne (Gurira) for the first time in years, in a story that promises to be an epic romance in the zombie apocalypse. Add in that we’ll be getting some huge mythology answers TWD has been holding off on for just as long as the main character’s reunion, and this is a big one. Consider us the ones who are hyped. — Alex Zalben

  24. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Kiawentiio as Katara, Gordon Cormier as Aang, Ian Ousley as Sokka in season 1 of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
    Photo: Robert Falconer/Netflix

    Release Date: February 22, 2024

    Streaming Service: Netflix

Cast: Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Daniel Dae Kim

Why We’re Hyped: Maybe hyped is the wrong word? How about “cautiously intrigued.” The animated Avatar: The Last Airbender is a perfect series that doesn’t need any improving or expanding. So will stretching episodes out to an hour add, or subtract? Will live-action make right the sins of the lambasted M. Night Shyamalan movie? The footage we’ve seen looks right… But will it feel right? Lots of questions here, but of course, we’ll be tuning in, just like everyone else. — Alex Zalben
