‘Xena: Warrior Princess’
Xena: Warrior Princess is the campy, feisty, sexy show we all need right now. The series, a spin-off of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, followed the reformed warlord-turned-heroine Xena as she traveled Ancient Greece in the hopes of atoning for her blood-soaked past. The series played fast and loose with Greek mythology and Roman history — remember when Xena dated Julius Caesar, who was bizarrely played by Karl Urban, who also played Cupid?? — but it made up for the historical inaccuracies with its sheer exuberance. Who doesn’t want to watch Lucy Lawless beat up a tavern full of bad guys? Who would sneer at the sapphic Will They?/Won’t They? storyline between Xena and bestie Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor)? Who could possibly hate Xena: Warrior Princess? It’s a perfect show and a delightful throwback.
