Good Grief (Released January 5) *Netflix Film

Written and directed by Dan Levy, Good Grief is a comedy-drama about a man named Marc (Levy) who is struggling to cope with the unexpected death of his larger-than-life husband, Oliver (Luke Evans). With the help of his best friends, Sophie (Ruth Negga) and Thomas (Himesh Patel), Marc begins to process his sorrow and pick up the pieces of his life, culminating in the three of them embarking on a soul-searching and life-altering trip to Paris. Lift (Released January 12) *Netflix Film

One of the biggest titles hitting Netflix this month is this star-studded new heist comedy led by Kevin Hart. Lift centers on Cyrus Whitaker (Hart) as he helms an international heist crew in a thrilling race to lift $500 million in gold from the passenger flight it is being transported in at a 40,000 foot altitude. In addition to Hart, the film features Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Viveik Kalra, Yun Jee Kim, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, and Sam Worthington, so be sure to see their wonderful work in Lift as soon as it drops in January on Netflix.

The Brothers Sun begins with Charles Sun (Justin Chien) turning up in Los Angeles, California after the sudden assassination of his powerful Taipei crime boss father so he can protext his mother Eileen (Michelle Yeoh) and younger brother Bruce (Sam Song Li). This all comes as a rude awakening for Bruce, who has been raised in California with no recollection of his life in Taipei, and is now being thrust into the world of gangsters that his mother has been sheltering him from for years. With the truth out, the Sun brothers must come together to embrace brotherhood, family, and a gangster’s lifestyle, all while Taipei’s deadly societies and rising powers battle for dominance.

Griselda (Released January 25) *Netflix Series

Inspired by true events, Griselda stars Sofía Vergara as the titular real-life Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco. The Netflix Original biographical crime-drama series follows Griselda as she rises from relative obscurity living in Columbia as a devoted mother who eventually utilized her charm, viciousness, and business savvy to create one of the most profitable drug cartels in history, earning her the nicknames “Cocaine Godmother” and “Black Widow.” See Vergara as you never have before in Griselda this month, only on Netflix.
